AI-Powered Feed Optimization

The Fix Feed button appears on feed details messages after you create or update a feed, or when you view your feeds using the "/feeds" command. This feature uses artificial intelligence to fix issues that might prevent you from receiving job alerts, while also enhancing your feed's effectiveness.

What is Fix Feed?

The Fix Feed feature uses OpenAI's advanced language models to:

  1. Identify and fix issues in your feed that might prevent you from receiving job alerts
  2. Extend your keywords list with relevant terms you might have missed
  3. Correct your required/excluded skills list so that skill names are properly formatted
  4. Intelligently expand your search criteria with related terms, synonyms, and industry-specific vocabulary

How it Works

  1. Analyze Your Feed: The AI examines your current feed settings, focusing on your keyword searches and required skills
  2. Identify Gaps: It identifies potential vocabulary gaps in your search criteria
  3. Generate Suggestions: It generates additional relevant keywords, terms, and skill variations
  4. Implement Improvements: With your approval, these suggestions are added to your feed

When to Use Fix Feed

Consider using the Fix Feed feature when:

  • You're missing jobs that seem relevant but don't appear in your feed
  • You've just created a new feed and want to ensure comprehensive coverage
  • You work in a field with varied terminology (e.g., UX/UI design, where jobs might use different terms like "interface designer" or "product designer")
  • You want to capture emerging terminology in your field without manually updating your feed

How to Use Fix Feed

  1. View your feed details by:
    • Checking the message received after creating/updating a feed
    • Or using the /feeds command and selecting a feed
  2. Find the "Fix Feed" button in the feed details message
  3. Tap the "Fix Feed" button
  4. Review the suggested changes shown on your screen
  5. Approve or reject the suggested improvements

TIP

For best results, make sure your initial feed has at least some keywords or skills defined. The AI needs a starting point to generate relevant suggestions.

IMPORTANT

  1. The Fix Feed feature may modify existing keywords in your feed, not just add new ones
  2. After using Fix Feed, it creates a modified copy of your original feed - you can choose to keep both, keep only the fixed version, or keep only your original
  3. This feature typically makes your feed broader to match more job opportunities - be sure to check the "Jobs" tab in the Feed Builder mini-app to verify you like the jobs that will match your fixed feed

Behind the Scenes: How the AI Works

The Fix Feed feature is powered by sophisticated natural language processing that:

  1. Understands context: It recognizes that "front-end development" is related to React, JavaScript, and CSS
  2. Identifies synonyms: It knows that "UI/UX" and "user interface design" refer to the same skill set
  3. Recognizes variations: It captures different spellings and abbreviations like "React.js" vs "ReactJS"
  4. Incorporates industry standards: It's aware of common job posting terminology in different fields

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Fix Feed change my existing keywords?

Yes, the Fix Feed feature may modify your existing keywords, not just add new ones. It creates a modified copy of your original feed, allowing you to compare and choose which version to keep.

How often should I use Fix Feed?

We recommend using Fix Feed when you first create a feed and then periodically (every 1-2 months) as industry terminology evolves.

Will Fix Feed make my feed too broad?

The Fix Feed feature typically makes your feed broader to match more job opportunities. After using this feature, we strongly recommend checking the "Jobs" tab in the Feed Builder mini-app to verify you like the jobs that will match your fixed feed.

Can I see what changes were made?

Yes, after using Fix Feed, you'll see a summary of the newly added terms, and they'll be visible in your feed settings.

Can I undo the changes made by Fix Feed?

The Fix Feed feature creates a modified copy of your original feed rather than changing your existing feed. If you're not satisfied with the fixed version, you can simply delete it and keep your original feed.

Technical Details

The Fix Feed feature uses OpenAI's GPT models to analyze your feed settings and generate contextually relevant suggestions. The system:

  1. Extracts keywords and skills from your current feed
  2. Passes these to a specialized prompt designed to generate related terms
  3. Filters the results to remove duplicates and ensure relevance
  4. Presents the suggestions for your approval
  5. Applies the changes to your feed when approved

This AI-powered approach ensures your job search criteria stay current with industry terminology while maintaining the specificity you need for targeted job alerts.
